Turns out, a phone wrapped in glass with curved edges and a small supporting frame might not be the best move for durability. According to emerging reports, the Galaxy S8 is surprisingly easy to break. A month before the S8 made its global debut, The Verge’s Vjeran Pavic expressed skepticism that a phone with so much glass and so little structural support might not stand up to the rigors of everyday use. “In 2017, as smartphone makers keep putting glass on both the front and back of their devices, and as screen bezels shrink dramatically smaller, I think we’ll see the preeminence (and fragility) of glass in smartphones take on a new importance,”.
After we tore down the and in April, our teardown engineers also noted that glass on the back and front meant double the opportunity for shattering. Those early assessments appear to be borne out in recent drop tests. In fact, Jason Koebler of Vice’s Motherboard “the most fragile phone ever made”—even with its updated Gorilla Glass. He cites the results of SquareTrade’s breakability tests, where the S8 emerged from every drop and tumble sorting a constellation of cracks on both the back and front glass. “A screen without limits,”, “except one: sidewalks.” Of course, drop tests aren’t a perfect assessment of durability. And it’s worth noting that the S8 performed better in other durability tests. In ‘s and ’s drop tests, the back glass cracked from a hip-height drop onto concrete—but the screen held up.
The S8 also emerged from scratch tests, burn tests, and bend test without much damage. Nevertheless, we’ve also seen a handful reports of Galaxy S8 and S8+ breakages on iFixit’s repair forums (though it’s difficult to gauge whether there are higher instances than normal). A few commenters claim they had the Galaxy S8 in a case when it broke. Others just hadn’t gotten around to buying a case for their new phone yet, and they paid the price: “So I broke my rear glass panel on my 4 day old s8+. Turns out these phones are so slick that they slip right out of your pocket. Mine hit a tiled floor on the edge, and the lower right corner of my screen cracked. All this while my case is coming in the mail”.

Secondly, in the US, under, third-party repairs can’t void your warranty unless the repair or replacement part causes damage to the device. The same federal law stops a car manufacturer from voiding your warranty because you had your brakes replaced by an independent mechanic.
On a more hopeful note, Apple that replacing a broken screen with a third-party screen no longer voids a phone’s warranty—a major policy shift from how the company previously treated phones they suspected of having third-party or DIY repairs. Of course, Apple’s updated repair policy is little help to Samsung S8 and S8+ owners who find themselves with a broken screen or shattered back panel. So what’s an unlucky owner to do? Well, on the whole, we scored the and at a mediocre 4/10 for repair. The liberal use of adhesive and glass makes it difficult for a DIYer to undertake most of the repairs a phone might need in its lifetime. But that back glass (which seems particularly susceptible to cracking) while tedious to remove, is not overly difficult for a non-pro to replace.

If you don’t think you have the chops to undertake a Galaxy S8 repair, independent repair pros do have the expertise and the right tools to navigate past the nasty adhesive—especially on that screen. The glue on the backside of a Samsung S8 rear panel is a little more approachable than the adhesive securing the screen to the chassis. And, more good news: Galaxy and parts are already available for purchase to repair shops and for consumers.

Mine broke (spend 1,200 back end of march) on ebay. The funny thing is this happened tapping it on the POS reader, it hit the corner of the reader just right to crack. It still works but I am PISSED! Samsung should offer a free replacement screen for everyone who purchased this with a stronger back and more dense top screen. Maybe make it so an avg (experienced) person like myself can change. I am bitterly disappointed with Samsung and the S8+. Now its in for repair of the back with Samsung, been 3 days, and I’m being told conflicting story after story about when it will be ready, when they’ll have the part.
I think Samsung should do a recall of this phone and give us our money back. Daniel Finnegan I have had my S8+ for a month now and WAS very satisfied until last night when my phone dropped from the edge of my couch (3.5 ft distance) to the floor (Hardwood floor covered by area rug) but I wasnt alarmed because I had my otterbox on it. I picked it up and went to check my email and was SHOCKED to see my glass screen shattered near the volume buttuns. I am not sure if I am more pissed at Samsung and their “gorilla glass” or at otterbox!

Totally gutted that my screen has broken. I got out of the car yesterday and the phone fell to the floor as I opened the door. My phones have always had covers on them to protect them. But this didnt help one bit. Ive had the Samsung phones now for a long while and never had a problem until now. Even my husband and daughters use them too.
Im pretty upset to that this is going to cost a pretty packet to get repaired. Seriously Samsung with the comments that ive read about the screen being so weak, dont you think that it would be kinder if you were to replace them for your customers?
Melanie Reising I was texting and went to set my phone on my granite kitchen counter, it slipped from my hand and landed flat on the counter from maybe 3 inches and the entire back shattered! What really bothers me is it was my first day owning it and the sales associate who sold it to me NEVER TOLD ME THE BACK WAS GLASS. Cellular store where I purchased it was sold out of cases so I ordered one and was being extra careful with the S7 thinking I didn’t want to crack the front.
I never knew the back was glass or breakable what a piece of shitbrand new phone and broke the first day!!! Tim Holt Had my s8 for a week and a half and decided to take it out of its case to clean it and found the back cracked. It was not dropped or had come into contacted with any hard object.
Stayed in my pocket except when using and charging. It just cracked. The cracks start from the Bixby button and just run from there to the top and bottom. The front is fine and everything works, the kicker is that the part that was protected by a case is the part that cracked.
I’m leaving this comment from my iPhone 4, which looks flawless despite falling onto the street a couple of times when getting out of my vehicle. That was years ago and I have babied my s5 and s8 since. Now I have to pay $70 to have it fixed and to reinstate the warranty. Before anyone thinks i’m an idiot for not having a case, i had an original samsung silicone case. Last year i bought four S7 edges and even though i didnt break the screens, two of them developed the dreaded pink lines going down the displays and on one the screen failed completely. Before These i had a note 2 and s5 mini and they are probably the best phones ive ever owned and still work fine after years use and dropping. I will never buy a Samsung again as they are very poor quality now and especially the S8 is so fragile its not fit for purpose. Samsung customer care is non existent and very unhelpful. Patricia A Hunt I own the S8+ have it in a Samsung case and dropped it at the grocery store and it landed case open and spider cracked starting at the volume down across to the other side by the power button.
I put $178 down for this phone (T-Mobile) and pay $12.00 a month for insurance and the insurance company wants another $150.00 for the deductable to replace it and that’s probably for a refurbished. When I first took it in to TMobile and showed them the guy that works there even said it should not have spider cracked the way it did. I’m curious if maybe it’s faulty Gorilla glass?
Jason g My S8 back cracked after it fell out of my pocket. Bought replacement glass on popular website and repaired myself using hairdryer to heat glass adhesive and then removed using thin razor to pry off glass. Be careful if you try this as the fingerprint sensor is glued to back glass and a thin conductive strip is connected to phone, so you could easily break fingerprint sensor!! I’ve just noticed that my back glass has got a crack in it again.
Don’t now how that happened, shows how fragile glass is. I don’t know why they don’t have a high gloss plastic back. This would solve rear glass problem. It had a Spigan case and still cracked the front screen. I’ve had other Samsung phones in the past, and this one is VERY fragile.

Phone slipped out of my shirt pocket while I slightly bent at the waist and fell at a height of around 4 feet onto pavement. Broke the front and back like it was made out of light bulb glass. Maya Bautista So i went to the beach with my s8. It withstand the salty water and sand mostly for the whole day but the following day when its all dried up the sound of the speaker is cracking. I thought maybe theres some salt in the speaker so i removed the clear case that came with it and put it in a tub of clean water for 30min. Dried it with a towel and put it back in the case then slipped it in my loose pocket. 2hrs later i saw a crack at the rear from the top of the camera down to the sides and bottom. Maybe 1 small sand between the phone and the case shattered it.
Idk because i had nothing else in my pocket, never dropped it or bumped into anything. Oh and the clear case was completely unharmed. Areally Angrymom I am a bed-bound disabled woman who goes out once a month to my doctor’s office. It took me YEARS to get a new phone because I cannot afford much.
I use my phone as my LIFE LINE for when life threatening illnesses or symptoms come up (such as a recent spinal fluid leak!). I don’t want a phone, I NEED a phone. I was in my bed, not more than 2 to 2 and a half feet from the floor when it slipped off of my blanket onto a wooden floor and the front of the screen cracked in the corner, with sharp splintering glass and has 2 HUGE cracks in an arc shape across the front of my phone.
It is usable so far but the day it is no longer usable my actual life becomes endangered. So to you j/o with the boohoo above, I hope the day your mother or father become gravely ill and need their phone that you worry about them just as much as my six children, grandchildren, mother, aunts and uncles and siblings worry about me. I hope you arent the one trying to call 911 becsuse someone is hurting you and you cannot get ahold of someone because your phone doesn’t work. I hope YOU never run into an emergency or your children or your family doesn’t and their phone isnt working! I already have one sister dead at 36 from being murdered. I had S4 for over 3 years and cracked once after numerous falls on the ground, concreted etc s8 is one of the biggest disappointment i ever had with cell phones. It is so beautiful and so fragile as hell. And replacement is super expensive here in Miami is $394.99 with only 2 months warranty it is almost half of the price of a phone. I have had a screen protector and otterbox on my phone from the moment I purchased it. I contacted them and they sent me this link for a study of my phone., Contacted Samsung and they want me to send my phone for their techs to check it out before they will do anything about.

LaVerne Jones I put an Otter case on my S8 and it fell off the belt clip and fell to the ground. I had an S4 for years in an otter box and dropped it many times. I work in a boom truck and dropped it 30-40 feet and never broke it. This S8 is terrible and Samsung should have “life tested” this phone including drop tests before releasing it. Spent about 200 for the insurance deductible and now have to shell out for a new case. From what I have been reading though, it doesn’t seem like the Spigen case has helped any of you either. I dropped my S6 on an almost daily basis. Never once did it break with just a simple case and a screen protector on. I don’t even like the curved screen!! James Weber Time for a Class action lawsuit. I’m extremely carefull with my cell phones, my last Samsung Galaxy Note 4 I had for almost 4 years did not have a scratch on it. But the home key button went bad so I brought a new Samsung S8+. I just found a hair line crack in the glass about half way down on the right. My girlfriend has the same Samsung S 8 + and both sides are cracked from her hands free car mount, it crushed both sides right in the middle. I want my money back or Samsung needs to fix this problem. Evan I bought my S8+ through my updraft and picked up in store.
I arived and my phone was waiting for me Version associate waiting to offer transferring my data. I was never told this is a very fragile phone you should put a protector on it immediately. One week later it slipped out my pocket as I get out of my car which is one to two feet off the ground and it hit the frame on left bottom edge cracking both front and rear glass.
I was able to use it for an additional week before the front screen spiderwebed and the digitizer as well as the LCD lifted and became inoperable. Now I’m back to my S5 I’ve had for going on 5 years.

$850 worth of monthly payments to pay and now I have a POS phone. So went to the Verizon store immediately after the accident and paid $117 for a Pelican case and a glass screen protector to PROTECT my GORILLA GLASS screen before it looks like the back. I’ve been a BIG fan of Gorilla Glass after my Motorola Droid.
THAT screen was indestructible. At this time I have NO confidence in Gorilla Glass. If it didn’t have Gorilla Glass I wouldn’t have carried it without a case. I guess I gave Gorilla Glass too much credit. I have been a huge fan of Samsung and their complete product line up til this point. The fact that they can sell such a product and obviously not respect the customers enough to offer a solution to this issue makes me scared to continue to buy any future products. Anyway, local TCC Verizon store didn’t carry a case that I liked when I purchased my phone and since it claimed to have Gorilla Glass I figured I can enjoy it’s true beauty until I found a case I LOVED.
Well as you can guess, 5 days in and due to the slick finish on the S8+, it slipped and fell 18 inches and shattered the entire back glass. After owning a Motorola Droid with Gorilla Glass, I had a lot of confidence in their product but I’m now devastatingly aware that GORILLA GLASS is not the same ole GORILLA GLASS.
At this point I don’t know what to be more disappointed in, my SUPER fragile SAMSUNG phone or the SUPER fragile GORILLA GLASS. I hate that Samsung made such a weak product because I’ve been a huge fan of their complete product line until today.
This defective product and the probability that they won’t do anything to help us customers, makes me scared to buy another Samsung product again. Truly devastating considering I thought they made the BEST tv’s and cell phones. I was willing to give them a chance even after the battery issues previously and waited for this new S8+ in hopes that they couldn’t possibly make another defective product they would have to recall. I know recalls are costly for a big business but losing credibility with the customers can be even more costly. Speaking of costly $117 today to purchase that case I didn’t care for and a glass screen protector to wrap up and hide the beauty of my $850 phone before the display looks like the back glass. It’s too bad we can enjoy the looks of a product a company spent time to make look so nice.
Straighten up Samsung. You may be big but too many screw ups like this and you shall fail. Karen peery I have had my Samsung Galaxy s8 edge for 28 days when my husband noticed a hairline crack on the right hand edge side by the on off bottom. I have a Mophie wireless battery case and screen protector. No drops I called Verizon they say if i bring back the phone they charge 300.00 and give me a new one. They suggest I take it to a Samsung sales rep to get it looked at. I ordered a cell phone purse today to keep it in with it’s case on.
I have owned an S3 previously and an S 5 never had any problem with the screens breaking thus is awful Samsung you have a Lot of unhappy customers. I don’t think seeing a Samsung rep will be much help. It sounds like they fix it for about 250.00. I am afraid to take off the Mophie case I didn’t know the back is glass too I hope that’s not broken. The Verizon store had a bad time trying to put the case one the woman couldn’t she had a man sales person push it on. Don’t by this phone, if you do use a case and a wallet it’s very fragile. I am a long term Samsung S-Series phone consumer (S3, S5, S8) and have been very happy until the “blink and it will break” curved screen design of the S8.
I am DISGUSTED. Obviously flawed design. Bought the phone, and within 2 weeks, even with an Otterbox shell and ZAGG Invisibleshield screen protector, the screen broke when dropped from 2 feet. No help from Verizon and Samsung said they would replace for $350 (my fault so warranty doesn’t apply.

It was approx. A 2 to 3 foot fall to concrete. Part of the screen looks like a spider web! It has a nice case and had what I thought was a nice protector on the screen which shatteredso it didn’t even absorb the impact! I’ve had numerous smartphones, and they all had the inevitable drop over time, from time to time, and they showed the scars. This is the first time I’ve ever had a screen to crack. Gorilla glass huh?
Good design huh? This is a horrible design flaw, and they must know that. Even with insurance, it’ll still cost $150. I’ll never buy another Samsung product if they do not address this. Frankly, I’ll likely trade it as soon as I get the cracked screen replaced!
Samsung, this is absolutely unacceptable. Pieter Cracked mine after babying it for 9 months. Literally picked it up gently by hand and I think my wedding ring lightly touched the edge of the screen and it cracked.
So annoyed with theses glass phones all coming out, only way to fix it is to send it to Samsung in Ontario, Canada (I’m in Newfoundland, Canada) and it’s $320 plus tax to fix the screen. It can stay broke until I trash this phone. After taking care of this phone so carefully I couldn’t believe how easily it cracked. However when the engineer saw it he insisted it was the camera glass that was damaged! Despite them not knowing which part was to be repaired they told me it was classed as physical damage so it would cost £97 to get it repaired. Samsung refuse to tell me why Samsung Chat gave me incorrect information and why the engineer told me something different was wrong with the phone.
The Software is flaky too and they didn’t sort that out either. I’m not going to get a Samsung phone again. They accused me of damaging my phone! How when it was in one of their cases? Customer Service doesn’t happen with Samsung. McMullen I upgraded to the S8 from the S7. I had the S8 since March when it came out.
I purchased the S8 glass protection right away for 20.00 which is a ripoff. I have never dropped or broke a screen on any of my phones from the S2 all the way up to the S7 until now this S8 is a piece of shit as far as the glass is concerned.
Both my front and back screens are cracked in several places and that’s only from being in my pants pocket. I have talked to Samsung Support but no help and also emailed the Executive support also and no help. If they don’t recall the S8 I will never buy another Samsung phone. Insurance is a ripoff also. SAMSUNG WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? I have read all of the complaints and your product SUCKS. With all your money you should recall and refund your customers.
I will not pay the steep amount to fix this phone when I know it’s not my fault. IT IS A DESIGHN FLAW AND YOU KNOW IT SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I lease my phone and will give it back all cracked and will not pay for it.
Justin I had my s8+ for less then 48 hours. I was pulling it out of my pocket to show it off to my dad and there was a large crack in the front.
I handled this this more carefully then an egg. There was absolutely no reason this thing should have broken.
I tried to plead my case to my cell phone provider( U.S. Cellular), to Samsung directly, and to the insurance company. No one would do anything for me. What a bunch of crooks. I will never support U.S. Cellular or Samsung again. The worst customer service I have ever received in my entire life.
I believe this product is defective. They should be replacing these free of charge.
There should be a class action lawsuit or something. Extremely unsatisfied to say the least. David Samsung, Your Galaxy S8/S8+, which supposedly has “gorilla-glass”, is a complete piece of garbage! My S8+ cracked and shattered on the front and back sides, from a drop of about two feet onto a hardwood floor, due to the fact the phone slipped out of my hand. Samsung, if you’re going to release a phone at least make sure it doesn’t shatter upon a two foot impact. How abut doing some real impact testing on your S8+ phone before you released it!
If you really did you would have know this problem existed beforehand and the phone would not have been released! Where’s your conscience, business ethics, professionalism?!
You owe it to your customers to replace our new Samsung S8 or S8+ phones with immediate effect! Tanya Bowley My Tmobile Samsung s8 has all kinds of cracks on the screen with me just taking the phone in and out of my purse. Though it is still under warranty, tmobile will not exchange the phone. The next move is to contact Samsung directly.
The phone has the poorest rated screen in the industry. If I were advised of this I would not have selected this phone. In addition, the phone resets in the middle of calls on a daily basis. In addition the phone reset has taken away my google voice voicemail option. Shame on Tmobile for not honoring the warranty!
I got S8 in October and while seated on a short stool (1.5ft) the phone slipped out of pant on tiled floor shattering the back cover and again after couple of weeks it slipped out again due to its smooth edge cracking the front screen. Worst part it had the hard core 4D screen guard 9Hx2 which didn’t help. I had Samsung appliances and phones always even before smart phones to S1, S3, S4, S5 & now S8. Not a single mobile was ever damaged but this one which was heartbreaking. Looking forward to get a positive outcome to stay with Samsung.
I wouldn’t want to buy S8 if it doesn’t suit everyday use. Been a Samsung fan since the beginning. Unfortunately these people are correct, this is a poorly designed screen. It appears to be the beveled edges.
It SUPREMELY compromised the screen integrity. Never cracked a screen before, cracked twice 1 month after getting it. BOTH when it drops onto a dense plush carpet, from 1 foot away from the floor. I was unfathom-ly shocked. Both are at the beveled section. Samsung has wasted a low wage earning consumers money when they would always support Samsung.
I will no longer contribute to supporting this direction of their phone design. I less Samsung fan out there.way to make a comeback after their last phone. Gale I just bought my Samsung S8 in August so when I noticed small spider crack in the cornerof my screen, I was pretty upset knowing its been in a case from day one and never dropped then to have our carrier to tell me it’s not covered by the insurance and I would have to notify the company to see if they would do anything about it. It upsets me to read other complaints about the same thing and saying Samsung refusing to take care of the problem. I will burn up their phone lines and guarantee them along with a 1000 other customers will never buy a product made by them again if this problem is not taken care of. Very upset and hope no one else buys a Samsung Galaxy S8.
Samsung wake up! Marilyn New Year’s Resolutions: DO NOT trust Samsung and Youtube for comparison anymore. I wished I listened to my friend when she told me to get an iPhone instead. I watched comparisons in YouTube and have not seen any comment about the fragility of the Samsung S8+ glass. The samsung itself didn’t bother to warn us either, why would they anyway? They will lose money from something they are so proud of, which they probably realized now that they should be ashamed of. Now I’m stuck for 2 years until I get rid of this phone!

I took it out of my pocket and noticed a tiny spot, thought it was dirt but after rubbing it it turned out to be a tiny hole and with hardly visible cracks running from it to the sides. I´ve only had it two months. Having read these blogs it would seem I have bought the wrong ´phone, It´s a design desaster and if Samsung doesn´t do something about it soon they are going to upset one hell of a lot of people.
It´s bad for business SAMSUNG!!!!! I´m going to buy an iPhone!
I´m glad I didn´t buy an S7, I wouldn´t have been allowed onto an aircraft here in Europe with it. Have had my Galaxy S8 for under 2 months. Case with a screen protector. Less than a foot off the ground it fell out of my pocket onto the GRASS ground. I have several impact areas plus several spider cracks.
What a piece of crap!! Contacted Samsung and for $200 I and 10 days later without a phone I can get it repaired.
Great customer service – NOT!! If I had wanted an phone that was more fragile than an uncooked egg I would have made my own out of egg shells. Where’s the class action suit. I have to keep this phone for 2 years or pay $800 for this POS! Samsung should be VERY EMBARRASSED by this POS device and what they charge for it. Admit your mistake – do the damn recall and move on.
Oh and I see they have a Galaxy 8 rugged so it moved to boiled egg status now? Hate this phone – hard to text on and yes I am 48 but I was very proficient at texting until this piece of crap, and Bixby. Get rid of it.very annoying! I asked them to buy it back if they think it’s so great but Samsung knows its crap and won’t. I have never, ever, broken a screen before, even had a horse step on my Iphone -NO Damage! Let’s SUE SUE SUE – it’s the only way they will every understand.
We work hard for our money and don’t need to buy expensive pieces of crap and then spend $200 a pop to fix their mistakes. Lisa I’ve had galaxy phone’s and watched the evolution and I musty say this is ridiculous.
Price went up product went way down. I have never cracked a screen! This phone was in a case that never comes off and I even added a glass shield protector for the screen and still!I can’t tell you exactly when mine cracked because my phone never took any significant tumbles but is still cracked. Samsung should be sued for playing us with this object they are trying to pass of as a phone.
After all these years I find myself thinking the unthinkable. Yes, switching to an iphone ? BUT I’m not sure that their phone is any better I do hate the edge screen on the Samsung. I feel we’re forced into it and it’s more phone to guard as well.
Bill Same here most expensive phone I ever bought and most fragile phone I ever bought. Had my note 8 on a spigam case on the armrest of my sofa. Put my hand does to get up and instantly stopped when I felt my phone, but 10 lbs of touch force on the edge was all it took to break the front class. So pissed and disappointed that this broke after 3 months of ownership.
This is the only phone I’ve ever broken in 17 years of owning phones. I have a drawer full of old phones that are all in mint condition. This is the first phone ive ever put a case on.
Not sure what to do now. The curved edge is stupid and fragile. I guess I’ll get a refurbished from the insurance and maybe sell it while it’s worth something. There are better units out there from Xiomi and others. Seems Samsung forgot phoned need to be durable.
I can fire up my 3 year old mum is 950xl or 1020. Both of which have survived year’s of use without shattering. Red Queen I have a Note 4 that I love and keep in perfect shape in Otterbox Defended with tempered glass screen protector. I momentarily considered getting Note 8, but was totally skeptical of buying a glass egg, and that was before I have seen endless numbers of complaints about the flaws in the design of the S8 and the Note 8. My common sense told me that the angled edge of the glass would be an achillies heel in a drop, but the issues of damage scenarios are numerous, not just the protruding edges. Eights are not worth a Wooden Nickel.
It appears even with various types of Otterboxes and glass screen protectors the damn thing will still get damaged in the slightest circumstance. So where are the lawyers with the class action suit for you folks? If my Verizon note 4 was not proving disastrous working on T-mobile, I’d never consider another phone. I’ll be stuck getting an LG Stylo 3 Plus and can’t find any info on type of screen glass. Its not any version of Gorilla Glass. Looks like Samsung will never get my business again after seeing the utter debacle you are all suffering, financially and otherwise.
Corning blew it with GG5. The glass is used in a manner for which Corning failed to consider the ramifications of totally exposed edges. Spontaneous breakage without any impact whatsoever is unconscionable design stupidity.
In contract law, warranties, there is the doctrine warranty of implied fitness for intended purpose, which is nonexistent for this crummy product. Seems entirely appropriate for litigation. EVERYONE SHOULD REGISTER COMPLAINTS WITH THEIR LOCAL BETTER BUSINESS BUREAUS, WHO MAY INTERVENE WITH SAMSUNG ON YOUR BEHALF WITH POSSIBLE RESTITUTION, AS WELL AS YOUR LOCAL OR STATE DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND BOMBARD YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICES. I knew the screen would break. Well not even 4 months after I got it. HOWEVER, I can say thisI have dropped this very phone 4 separate times, I have cracks all thru the front AND back glass. I’m missing pieces of the front glass around the corners, AND IT STILL WORKS PERFECTLY!!!!!!! The ONLY problem I have is one of the cracks runs thru my front camera, so it’s SLIGHTLY blurry but I barely use it anyway!
I’ve had the glass replacement for weeks now just never got around to putting it on.kinda think I don’t want to now! I might have one of the select few “give it hell, it can handle it” phones! Jeni My galaxy s8+ broke from falling 4 feet on carpet the 2nd day I had it. Right bottom corner cracked, and the whole back us cracked, looking like the rays from a laser all the way to the top. I bought it because I thought I could use it the rest of my life which is less than 2 years. The repair from Samsung is over half of my fixed income, but my extended warranty should cover the repair in a year. So, for a year, minus the two weeks it took me to get an honest answer and overwhelming guote from the billion dollar company; Samsung.
Tom DeLorge This S8 Plus is the absolute worst phone I have owned. Replaced the front glass twice, back glass once, but it cracked again shortly after relacement so I need to replace it again.
All while in Otter box cases. I replaced the case after the 1st break thinking it was the problem. I have replaced it again hoping carbon fiber is the answer. But I doubt it. This experience has sworn me off of Samsung phones. After countless years of being a die hard fan. My wife is due for an upgrade and as much as I dread the thought, I am considering an iphone.
Barely can even put it writing. Thanks Samsung!! Tiffany Samsung went down hill as soon as they made the s6. The screens have gotten worse and the backs too. Warranty is a useless thing we pay for. They don’t replace anything damaged and if they do they will only give you a refurbished phone for almost the exact price of your old one. Well phone companies anyways.
If you tell the manufacture they charge you half the price of the phone and its ridiculous. The phone is extremely over priced and crap. Not sure who they are hiring to create electronics anymore but they suck now days.

My husband dropped his the first day while sitting down, phone fell about a foot -screen cracked. I too have one, I had it in the Samsung wallet case, lost my grip on the case – phone popped out of case & screen cracked. Samsung said not their faultI have a warranty through Sprint, paid the $200 & they replaced the phone – for a cracked screen? Most recently, my phone is in a very good case, has a supposedly indestructible screen protector on it, I accidentally pushed the dumb Bixby button & the screen cracked at that spot & immediately spiderwebbed, ugh!
I hate this phone! Bryan N Robinette Broke my S8+ 3 times in 6 months. On the third time sold the piece of cr. for a $100 bucks to Ubreakifix. Can’t afford to buy a new screen every few months. All three times had the Otterbox Defender case.
Will never buy a Samsung curve screen again. Unless they start making an indestructible screen. This is a scam people, Samsung is making a killing on parts from these dainty phones they are selling. Oh, and by the way, I have owned a cell phone for over 20 years and never broke a phone. Who are these idiots designing these cell phones made of glass!!!!!!! REALLY GLASS. And now they are about to launch the S10 with the same curved screen made of glass.
My warning to you is don’t buy a Samsung phone, well unless you can like living with a cracked screen. Oh and by the way I love everything about the Samsung phone except they surround the phone in glass. Pull your heads out, Samsung.
